Welcome to the stunning and serene Cape Porpoise Harbor in Kennebunkport! From our private launch at the south end of this historic harbor, your Registered Maine Sea Kayak Guide will lead you through sheltered waters surrounding small islands offering quintessential coastal Maine scenery.
Every tour includes a landing on Goat Island to visit the historic lighthouse that makes this harbor so picturesque. You will respectfully enjoy the peace and beautiful ocean views Goat Island has to offer, and weather conditions permitting, you’ll enter the lighthouse to snap some vacation-defining photos from the top deck. Keep an eye out for sea glass while you meander the pebble beach!
Please note: The Goat Island Lighthouse is maintained by a keeper partnered with the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust. There may be times when it is unsafe to enter the lighthouse. We do not guarantee lighthouse access. Access is granted by the kind permission of the folks who do so much to take care of the island and lighthouse for visitors like us.
The rest of the journey will take you north to Stage Island, where you can view the open Atlantic from within the protection of the islands and high ledge that keeps the surf at bay, and up into Sampson Cove, which winds quietly back toward the center of this classic New England fishing village.
With so much to see and experience in Cape Porpoise, the exact route and number of stops may vary depending on group size, weather conditions, or other considerations. But no matter how you make your way through this enchanting place, you’re bound to have an amazing story to tell afterward.

Health & Safety
As required by state law, this tour is lead by a Registered Maine Guide who is trained and certified to keep you safe on the water. You will be required to wear a personal flotation device (PFD) throughout the experience. Cape Porpoise is a sheltered natural harbor. We will not paddle into strong ocean currents.
Children 16 and under must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian. Single-seat kayaks are for participants 12 and older. Anyone under 12 may join an adult parent or guardian on a tandem (two-seat) kayak.
Keep in mind that younger children may not be able to provide much assistance with paddling. If you're planning to paddle with a younger child, be prepared to do most of the work yourself.
Single kayak participants should be able to paddle on calm ocean water for 2-3 hours, with breaks. Each tandem kayak requires at least one person of adult strength or two people age 12 and over.
Anyone who can enter and remain seated comfortably in the boat may join. People who are unable to paddle may join stronger paddlers in a tandem kayak.
